The au natural philosophy of an unrefined goodness has a new-found integrity in our world of unprecedented materialism, mass production and manufactured synthetics. As we teeter on the sharp edge of a gripping age with foreboding, our voices echo the ancient readiness of our ancestors to take back the soils of an exhausted earth and revive our primal desires and historic intuitions to rejoice in the rustic, homespun pleasures of a truly meaningful life. Community and family hold steadfast the blazing torch of this restored veracity, by supporting, maintaining and contributing to local events and gatherings that promote local produce and business. The Penticton Farmers’ Market is one such event that allows for the broader community of the Okanagan and Similkameen to come together and truly partake in everything local, organic, healthy, fresh and creative. This coming Saturday and every Saturday henceforth until October 31, from 8:30 am to 12 noon, the Penticton Farmers’ Market overtakes l00 Block Main Street, a stone’s throw away from the Penticton Lakeside Resort, in a colourful festive celebration of our society’s return to true quality by way of small scale agricultural producers and craftspeople. Delight in home-made full flavour and unprocessed, raw and delectable produce, farm-fresh! With a wide variety of organic fruits and vegetables, honey, flowers and eggs, enticing baking and preserves and elegant crafts, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. The Penticton Farmer’s Market is celebrated as one of the most energetic and thriving farm-to-city food micro-systems in the country and as a community, those participants – sellers and buyers alike – take pride in bringing public support to local food. Not to mention, it is the second largest farmer and community market in British Columbia! The Penticton Lakeside Resort is a strong advocate and supporter of local businesses, and encourages anyone who fancies a peaceful yet inspired country morning filled with the brilliant sounds of a rural culture, to saunter through this wonderfully refreshing and invigorating marketplace. It truly inspires.
